While traditional floodlights offer limited functionality, you can get advanced security features by installing Eufy floodlight cameras at your home.
If you are planning on purchasing one of these security devices, this blog will walk you through the easy steps to install them in no time.
Before you start
Well before you begin with the eufy floodlight camera setup, you’ll need to follow some safety instructions so you don’t land in trouble later on. Here are some important points to keep in mind:
- Turn off the power from the mains/circuit breaker box before you begin installing the camera.
- Avoid installing the camera near flammable surfaces.
- Take help from an experienced electrician for installing your Eufy security floodlight camera.
- Avoid using your Eufy Floodlight Cam in environments where the temperatures are too high or too low. Also, ensure you install the camera at spots away from direct sunlight or direct rainfall. The suitable operating temperature for operating the eufy camera and its accessories is between -20 degrees Celcius to 50 degrees Celcius.
Finally, ensure you have the following items with you:
- The Eufy Floodlight Camera unit
- A Junction Box
- An installation Hook
- A Central Screw
- A Central Screw Cap
- Plate Screws
Getting started with Eufy Floodlight Camera Setup
- To proceed with installing your Eufy Floodlight Cam, you can shut the power off at the mains. Ensure the same is properly shut off. You can try switching a bulb on and off to confirm the same.
- Now, identify the area that you wish to illuminate and where camera coverage is required. You can install your Eufy camera setup anywhere on the front wall or on the side wall of your house. However, for best detection and light coverage, it is advised that you install the camera on the side wall always. This is because the motion sensor is more sensitive to the movements across the camera’s field of view than those towards to away from the sensor.
Install your Junction Box
You will find two holes towards the periphery of the junction box. The best orientation for these holes is Vertical as it will help obtain stable mounting. Avoid pre-drilling holes on wooden mounting surfaces. You can use the screws that came with the eufy floodlight cam box to fix the junction box instead. If you are mounting the junction box on hard surfaces like bricks or concrete, you can drill holes using a drill machine and insert the anchors to aid with installation. Next, use the screws provided with the box to fix the junction box on the wall. Now, on the wire connectors, unscrew the bolts using a screwdriver and connect the wires accordingly. Once fixed, you can secure the wires tightly to prevent them from falling apart.
Mounting the Eufy Floodlight Camera
- Hang your security floodlight camera on the junction box using the hook provided in the box.
- While it hangs in place, connect the ground wire from your Eufy Floodlight camera to the respective wire connector port in the junction box.
- Also, connect the Live and Neutral wires from the camera to their respective ports on the wire connector in the junction box.
- Once you have inserted the wires in place, secure them using a screwdriver.
- Now, align the hole on the junction box with the opening you see on the outer lid. Screw the center screw through the same to mount the lid and close the junction box in its position. You can cover the screw with the screw cap to prevent rust buildup over time.
- Once the junction box installation is complete, loosen the adjustment screws on your Eufy Security camera and floodlights to adjust them and the light position at desired angles. Once you obtain the correct alignment, tighten the screws back to complete the installation.
- You can now restore the power from the mains easily. You will see the LED indicator on your Eufy floodlight camera. Once the LED color changes to blinking red, you can proceed with the App Setup process.
Eufy Security Floodlight Camera App Setup
- You can download the Eufy Security App from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store as per the device you are using.
- Once installed, launch the same and sign up for a Eufy account. You can now sign in to the account and then follow the on-screen instructions to connect your Floodlight camera to the WiFi network at your home.
- Once your Eufy Floodlight camera is added to your Eufy account, you can check the live stream on it easily.
